Revamp for riverfront

THE Brisbane riverfront is getting a facelift, with the transformation of the George and Williams streets precinct a step closer.

Acting Premier Jeff Seeney today announced Cbus Property has secured the contract to develop the $653 million 1 William St project.

The development will become the new home of Queensland’s public service and include a 75,000sq m office tower.

Seeney said the development would facilitate greater community use of the northern bank of the Brisbane River.

Work is expected to start immediately in the New Year.
