1 Bligh honoured with International High Rise Award

The Architectus and ingenhoven architects designed offie tower 1 Bligh has won the prize for the world’s most innovative high rise building -the first building in Australia ever to receive the award.

The International High Rise Award (IHA) is awarded to a building that distinguishes itself in its particular aesthetic, pioneering design, urban integration, as well as in its innovative technology, economic efficiency and, above all, its sustainability.

Since 2004 the International High Rise Award has been awarded every two years by the City of Frankfurt, Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM) and DekaBank Germany.

In hounour of the award a prize in sustainable commercial high rise architecture will be established in the name of 1 Bligh for final year Master of Architecture students at the University of NSW Faculty of the Built Environment.

Architectus Managing Director and UNSW architecture alumnus Ray Brown said: “it is an honour to receive the award and to have the opportunity to establish a student prize that will recognise the study of sustainable commercial high rise architecture.”

UNSW Built Environment Dean Professor Alec Tzannes commends the generosity of the award winning team in creating an endowed prize for graduating architecture students which reflects the spirit of 1 Bligh.

1 Bligh is co-owned by DEXUS Property Group, DEXUS Wholesale Property Fund and Cbus Property.

Previous winners of the IHA include WOHA Architects, Foster + Partners, Jean Nouvel and Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates.
