Ernst & Young Building

At the new gateway to the Melbourne CBD, the 35 storey, 44,500 sqm, Ernst & Young Building rises from the historic Herald and Weekly Times building. In developing this new city landmark, Cbus Property faced the challenge of incorporating the existing building with its cultural and heritage importance into the new vision for the site.

The modern office tower floats over the former newspaper offices, with a 30 metre-high separation between the new and the heritage buildings.

During the development of this project, Cbus Property consulted directly with anchor tenant Ernst & Young, to ensure that their design and business requirements were incorporated into the finished building. Cbus Property achieved this through establishing a cooperative partnership with Ernst & Young at the earliest stages, ultimately reflected in the relationship with the builder Bovis Lend Lease. Key requirements for Ernst & Young included premium building services, 100 per cent power back-up to ensure business continuity and data security, totally secured access, a fully flexible floor plan, and integrated fit out. The building was completed in 2005.
