111 & 121 Castlereagh is a luxury mixed-use development in partnership with Scentre Group, transforming the iconic 1938 former David Jones Men’s Store into a modern destination featuring premium office space, luxury retail, and residential apartments in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.
Designed by award-winning architect Richard Francis-Jones of fjcstudio, the commercial offering – known as 121 Castlereagh – comprises 11,500 square metres of premium-grade office space across six levels. The building features a central sculptural atrium with skylight, drawing natural light into the centre of the building for the first time in its history. Flexible and contiguous floor plates range from approximately 1,700 square metres to 2,030 square metres, with 3m+ ceiling heights featuring exposed services and raised access flooring.
The heritage character is accentuated with exposed concrete ribbed/waffle slabs and steel riveted columns. The restoration includes the heritage sandstone façade, timber and aluminium windows, aluminium-clad street awning, and Market Street staircase, with salvaged travertine wall tiles and fluted lift reveals reused throughout.
End-of-trip facility ‘Revive’ provides 150 bicycle stores and lockers with luxury finishes. Commercial tenants have direct connection into Westfield Sydney via lifts and undercover access to Town Hall Station.
Ground-floor luxury retail includes Chanel (the largest Chanel Maison in the Southern Hemisphere), Moncler, and Batch Café, as an extension of Westfield Sydney’s retail offering, developed by Scentre Group.
Notable commercial tenants include APA and The Commons.
The residential component – 111 Castlereagh – comprises 98 luxury apartments with private rooftop amenities including wellness space, outdoor pool, and over 1,500 square metres of landscaped area. Residents can hire workspace within The Commons. Residential completion is anticipated for mid-2026.
The building is targeting a 6 Star Green Star rating, 5.5 Star NABERS Energy Rating, and 3.5 Star NABERS Water Rating. It is WELL pre-certified, targeting Platinum rating and is Net Zero Carbon in operation, being fully electrified.
The development was completed in 2025

The cultural practice of a Welcome to Country at this place is to acknowledge that we live and work on the lands of the Gadi Clan of Coastal Sydney. It is to acknowledge our Ancestors and how ancient and sacred these lands and waters are. The Gadi and neighbouring clans have cared for these lands and waterways for thousands of years, and they have a continued connection to Country today. It is in the continuation and participation of these Cultural customs and practices that we are Welcomed. It is with these experiences, the knowledge passed down to me and the bloodlines within me that I Welcome you to this Country, Gadi Ngura, my Ancestral Country of Coastal Sydney. This land is, was and always will be Aboriginal land. We will always have a cultural responsibility to this land and each other, for Country is all encompassing and it sustains us.
