Classic Residences

Classic East Melbourne is an extraordinary offering of 65 expansive apartments in three unique buildings overlooking Fitzroy Gardens and Yarra Park.

The project includes restoration of historic Mosspennoch House at 40 Clarendon Street which was originally designed by Charles Webb, architect of the Windsor Hotel and Royal Arcade; construction of 22 Clarendon – a new seven-level building next door; and Parade, a new 14-level building around the corner on Wellington Parade incorporating the former MCG Hotel where in 1859 the oldest surviving laws for Australian Rules football were drawn up.

Bates Smart has designed 22 Clarendon and Parade to complement Mosspennoch House and create an exclusive enclave within the Fitzroy Gardens precinct with 11 half-floor apartments and a full-floor penthouse.

Parade retains the façade of the former MCG Hotel, transforming it into a three-bedroom residence with direct entry from the car park.  The building rising above includes 45 spacious two and three bedroom apartments and two sizeable penthouses.

Heritage architects Lovell Chen will oversee the restoration of Mosspennoch with 6 mansion-style apartments. Original features including the hall and elements of the ballroom will be retained and restored. The building was completed in 2018.
