Herald Living - 8 Exhibition Street,  Melbourne. Victoria

Developed within the Herald and Weekly Times building, the Hearld Living apartments rejuvenate an essential piece of Melbourne’s architectural heritage. The original building, completed in 1923, is one of Australia’s finest examples of French inspired Beaux-Arts architecture.

Today, the building has been thoroughly refurbished bringing the development into the 21st century while retaining its treasured history.

Utilising the long clean lines of the original architecture, Hassell developed a plan that ensures the apartments are spacious and airy while remaining in line with strict heritage guidelines and maintaining the overall ambience if the old newsrooms. The result is 56 luxury apartments of one, two and three bedroom configurations,

Sensitive development has seen the restoration of a landmark building of cultural significance, closely following heritage guidelines. This includes: ensuring the original windows were carefully restored; returning to original condition the façade, the former radio masts, the Beauz-Arts street lights and the former Herald and Sun newspaper daily boxes on the exterior walls.
